As part of backward integration to contracting and with aim of emerging as one of the leading timber suppliers in the region the company deemed necessary to invest in commercial forestation. The total forest cover situated in various areas amounts to more than 2 square miles with pinus caribaea and eucalyptus grandis and eucalyptus clones. This venture also boasts other sections which include; the tree nursery and the saw mill among others.
This investment would guarantee a reliable and affordable source of wooden electricity poles that are needed for grid extension. The biggest benefit utilized so far is that at the maturity of the forest, Ferdsult™ would have contributed towards environmental protection and it can harvest the poles for consumption by its pole treatment plants. This will, in the long run, go along way in providing a reliable and consistent source of raw materials to the plants and improve Ferdsult™ corporate image as a social corporate responsibility towards preserving the environment.
